The survey, compiled by The Art Newspaper, is based on the visitor numbers for 2023.

Wawel Castle in Poland's historic city of Kraków is No. 20 on the list, with 2.56 million visitors, a 43-percent increase from 2022.

The Royal Castle in Warsaw, which attracted 2.02 million people in 2023, is in 25th place. The number is 15 percent higher than in the previous year.

The National Museum in Kraków is No. 37 on the list, with 1.65 million visitors, a 21-percent increase from 2022.

The list is topped by the Louvre in Paris, the Vatican Museums and the British Museum, in that order.

The survey shows that many of the world’s leading art museums returned to their pre-pandemic attendance levels.
